Rugby's covid-19 cases are rising at the fifth-highest rate in the country

Rugby s covid-19 cases are rising at the fifth-highest rate in the country, data sourced from Public Health England reveals.

In the week leading up to last Friday, Rugby's case rate per 100,000 increased from 67.9 to 103.7.

The figures are based on the seven days up to 19 March, and are based on tests carried out in laboratories and in the wider community.

Of the 120 areas in England to record a week-on-week rise, Rugby comes fifth.

The five areas with the biggest increases are:

Rugby - up from 67.9 to 103.7 (increase of 35.8)

West Lindsey - up from 77.4 to 113.9 (increase of 36.5)

Broxtowe - up from 50.0 to 92.1 (increase of 42.1)

North Lincolnshire - up from 126.5 to 167.2 (increase of 41.2)

Barnsley - up from 153.9 to 193.6 (increase of 42.7)

Of the 315 local areas in England, a total of 120 (38 per cent) have seen a rise in coronavirus case rates, 188 (60 per cent) have seen a fall and seven remain unchanged.
