Advert: National Rat Week: It is proposed to have a second special campaign against rats throughout the county during the week beginning February 23.

The general public are urgently requested to assist the council all they can in exterminating these pests.

To this end they are prepared to give: 2d per head for all rats destroyed and offer three prizes of £3, £1 , 10s to those who kill the largest number.

Depots for receiving the rats heads will be at the Council Yard in Chapel Street, Cattle Market in Craven Road and Destructor Works in Newbold Road.

February 20, 1970

A hurricane fighter aircraft which took part in the Battle of Britain in 1940 is expected to arrive in Rugby next Tuesday.

It will be on display for a week in the Granada Theatre car park as part of a publicity campaign for the film story of Britain’s remarkable battle in the air.

The Hurricane played a large part in defending the south coast of England with a squadron that claimed 73 enemy aircraft destroyed. It used to fly at 328mph at 10,000 feet and has a wingspan of 40 feet. Today it prefers to travel by lorry.

February 16, 1995

Carry the card and show you care. That’s the plea from Save St Cross campaigners.

A special donor card urges 999 staff to take the patient to St Cross for treatment. They will be given out to shoppers on Saturday and you can pick one up from the hospital and the Advertiser office.

It’s the latest leg in the Save St Cross campaign, now combatting a Warwickshire Health document and a private surgery proposal at nearby Inwoods House.
