Festive open weekend at Carstins

South Korean manufacturer SsangYong have been producing 4x4 vehicles since 1953, for the UK market. For many, the first experience of SsangYong was with the Musso range of the early-mid 1990s.

Well proven Mercedes Benz sourced diesel engines met with bold styling - the car was met with a mixed reaction in the UK market. Those in the know swore by their SsangYongs but even though they represented excellent value for money many were distracted by the usual Land Rover Discovery, Mitsubishi Shogun and Isuzu Trooper rivals. Despite their far more reasonable pricing position, this little known manufacturer struggled to convince the public of its potential compared with longer established rivals.

However, in recent years SsangYong vehicle sales have steadily increased in the UK, with the arrival of some excellent and highly competent vehicles within the range, and it’s fair to say they are taking the European market very seriously with the latest model line-up, providing a real alternative to the likes of Hyundai and Kia, not to mention the likes of Subaru, Toyota and Land Rover.

The current model line-up comprises the Korando, the mid-size SUV model with 2.0 Turbo Diesel power and a choice of manual or automatic transmission, which priced from just £16,995 on the road offers incredible value for money in this popular market place.

Next up in size is the Rexton which, in its current guise, uses the 2.7 Turbo Diesel 5 cylinder Mercedes Benz derived turbo diesel engine with a choice of manual or Mercedes Benz sourced automatic transmission and a 3200KG towing limit. But this model is about to receive the new Euro5 engined 2.0 4 cylinder engine which SsangYong are keen to promote due to its outstanding smoothness, excellent economy and lower C02 emissions making this a real contenderin the larger SUV sector.

The Rexton range starts from £19,995 which, considering all models offer spacious seating for 7, surely represents an awful lot of car of the money.

And that’s not all, SsangYong vehicles have a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty as standard.

For larger families or those with lots of friends there is the Rodius, which offers spacious seating for 7 and and still offers a usable boot area even when all 7 seats are used.

This model too is about to receive the new smooth Euro 5 Turbo Diesel engine with a choice of manual or automatic transmission and priced from just £15,995 on the road. This surely represents one of best value for money packages of this vehicle type on the market today.

The latest addition to the range is the Korando Sports, the new Double Cab 4x4 Pick Up. This is a truck that will appeal to leisure users and people in business alike, and again offers a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty. With its excellent specification and list price from just £18,295 (including VAT) on the road it is also excellent value for money. It offers a 2300kg towing capacity and is powered by the new Euro5 Turbo Diesel engine offering a credible 37.7mpg combined for the manual transmission models and 35.3mpg (claimed) for the automatic models.

Carstins of Balsall Common are situated adjacent to Berkswell train station and offer easy access from the M42 motorway and the NEC.
