Hide AdVeronica ardently desires Cristow and succeeds in re-opening their affair, but is unable to get him to divorce his wife. Veronica unwisely states that if she cannot have him, no one else shall. Within five minutes, someone lies dead.
Nearly everyone has a motive and most had the opportunity. Enter Inspector Colquhoun and Sergeant Penny to solve the crime.
In true Christie style, the play is full of intrigue, murder and red herrings – with the audience kept guessing about the identity of the killer right to the end.
Christie is the best-selling novelist of all time, with sales of her novels reaching more than two billion, outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare. She is best known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections. In the 1930s she began adapting her stories to the stage and became a record-breaking playwright. The Hollow is based on her 1946 book of the same name and was first produced on stage in 1951.
