Connells launches its Help to Buy Fortnight

All Connells estate agency offices in the Central Region are holding a dedicated ‘Help to Buy Fortnight’ from August 16 to 30, designed to help buyers looking to use the scheme.

Following the success of its ‘Help to Buy Fortnight’ last year, Connells is keen to inform buyers and sellers of the options still available to home buyers.

There is a broad range of schemes and opportunities currently available to people looking to step on or up the property ladder.

Help to Buy now offers two schemes. The Equity Loan scheme allows buyers to purchase a new build property worth up to £600,000 with a five-year, interest-free Government loan for up to 20 per cent of the value of the property. This means buyers may need only a 5 per cent deposit to purchase a new home.

The Mortgage Guarantee scheme however allows lenders the opportunity to offer between 80 per cent and 95 per cent mortgages with a 5 per cent deposit. This option works the same as any other mortgage except that under the scheme the Government offers lenders the option to purchase a guarantee on mortgage loans.

Regional new homes director Jessica Hardwick said: “I would urge buyers to get in touch during our Help to Buy Fortnight to discuss what options are available to them and how we can assist.

“Help to Buy has been a great success for the housing market since its introduction and it is still a viable option for aspiring home owners.

Statistics show many people still do not know about the schemes on offer and how they could help them.

“Over the next fortnight we are actively encouraging anybody who is contemplating moving home or buying for the first time to get in touch, so we can help them understand the options available to them.”
