“We took on more properties for sale in January than we did in any month during 2012 – and this is supposed to be a quieter time of the year,” said branch manager Natalie Alves.

“We have also seen a surge in the number of buyers registering with us and, even though there are more properties coming onto the market, we just can’t get enough to meet their needs.”

The upturn in the property market started at the end of last year but has accelerated since Christmas with many houses and apartments attracting multiple offers and selling within a couple of weeks for very close to the asking price.

All this is excellent news for sellers.

Natalie added: “If anyone is thinking of moving in the near future I would encourage them to come and talk to us as soon as possible while the market is so good and there is still a shortage of quality properties to buy.”
