House prices have increased the most in these English areas since 2019

House prices in England have seen an increase in prices over the last year, hitting an all-time high in December 2020

Many areas around the UK saw dramatic increases, with the pandemic seeing people buy homes, and property value soaring.

Here are the 10 councils in England that have seen the biggest house price increases, according to data from the Government’s UK House Price Index.

5. Northumberland

Northumberland recorded the fifth biggest increase, with an annual change of 16.2 per cent. In November 2019 the average house price was £152,663, in November 2020 it was £177,394. Photo: Shutterstock

6. Burnley

The north England town saw an annual change of 15.4 per cent. In November 2019 the average house price was £86,179, in November 2020 it was £99,409. Photo: Shutterstock

7. Merton

The London Borough of Merton was next on the list, seeing an annual change in prices of 14.9 per cent. In November 2019 the average house price was £497,753, in November 2020 it was £571,988. Photo: Shutterstock

8. Bath and North East Somerset
