The sales follow a spectacular Christmas in which instructions rose eleven fold.

Sales across all four offices, including Leamington, are up 30 per cent, with exchanges 55 per cent higher than last January and viewings up by a quarter.

The latest figures reflect a national rise in house buying as mortgage availability becomes easier and interest rates remain low.

Coventry city centre sales manager Nick Luntley (pictured) explained: “As demand continues to outstrip supply, people are keen to buy before prices go up and this, combined with the easier access to finance, is helping fuel sales.

“Additionally, we are seeing more people deciding to invest in property as an alternative to putting cash into a building society with very low returns.

“The expansion of JaguarLandrover and Peugeot, Citroen’s relocation to Coventry, and a consistently high number of post graduates and visiting lecturers at both our universities means there is a ready market for rental properties.

“Yields are attractive – with areas like Earsldon, Canley, and Stoke commanding premium rental prices on houses costing only £120,000.”
