With spring upon us, we want to bring some sunshine into our readers’ lives by running a photo competition to capture the romance and hope of the new season .

Poets and writers have waxed lyrical about springtime through the centuries and, with the kind sponsorship of Leamington solicitors Blythe Liggins, we are asking readers to send in their photos.

Obviously, we are restricted this year by the fact that we are all staying at home - but do not fear. We are asking for your best photos from your beautiful gardens.

The winner will get £100 and two runners-up will each receive £50. All you need do to be in with a chance of winning is to take a photo of a spring scene and email it to [email protected] with the title ‘Spring Scenes’.

Richard Thornton, joint senior partner at Blythe Liggins, said the photographs needed to illustrate the hope that springtime brings and the magic of the season.

“We strongly believe in supporting the local community at such a terrible time as this, which is why we are very happy to be sponsoring this competition to lift people’s spirits and give a feeling of hope,” said Mr Thornton, whose firm sponsors Kenilworth Rotary’s Two Castles 10km race and has Myton Hospice as its main charity.

The judging will take place in early May so there’s plenty of time to capture some truly wonderful sights in your own garden.

Deputy editor Phil Hibble said entries may appear in the Courier most weeks - and online on our websites and social media platforms - between now and the judging.

You can email your entries, with your contact details, to [email protected]
