The theatre has secured the rights to perform the West End hit Made In Dagenham – and it will be one of the first amateur groups in the country to perform the show.

The musical was staged in the West End last year, and is based on the 2011 film of the same name, set in the 1960s.

Director Helen Dulcamara said: “It’s a real feelgood show, recounting the story of the how women working at the Ford car factory’s Dagenham plant brought the company to its knees when they went on strike for equal pay.

“It’s a feisty, fun, fabulous show, and there are some brilliant roles for both women and men.”

The theatre is looking for talented performers to take part in the show, which hits the Henry Street stage in July.

It will be holding auditions at the theatre 9 at 7.30pm on Friday, January 2, and at midday on Sunday, January 31.

To give people a feel for the show – and an idea of what the theatre is like for newcomers – there is a “get to know the show” evening at 7.30pm tomorrow.

Helen added: “This is a wonderful show packed full of character parts for men and women of all ages.

“As always, our auditions are open to all and we welcome newcomers and I am particularly keen to tap into new talent from within Rugby and beyond. There will be additional support for new actors and singers, so don’t be put off if you haven’t performed on a stage before.”

The show runs from June 11 to 18. For more details go to the theatre’s website www. rugbytheatre.co.uk.
