A big fat yes to food and film festival

Warwick’s first food and film festival organised by the Warwick Rocks group has met with widespread support from more than 150 businesses and others in the town who attended a launch meeting.

Smith Street barber Paul Evans, one of the organisers of the event, scheduled to take place from August 17 to 25, said ideas have been flooding in from every quarter of the town.

He said: “Restaurants, cafes, furniture makers , museums, vets, Warwick Racecourse, the castle and local MP Chris White have already been asking how they can be part of the festival.”

By coincidence Mr Evans was giving a haircut to racecourse manager Huw Williams when he first raised the idea.

Mr Williams told him: “We were already thinking of a food element to our race meeting in August and so I immediately saw this as a wonderful initiative which we hope to fully support.”

Screens and food stalls will be set up in Smith Street and other venues around the town.
