A real scare at 10th open event

Enjoy this year’s crowd of awe inspiring scarecrows at the 10th annual crafting competition in Kenilworth Allotments

For the tenth year in a row, the site off School Lane will open its gates to the public on Sunday to raise its profile and get more people into gardening.

As well as music and culinary delights from around the world from 2pm, visitors can a meet artist Chris Saunderson and have chance to marvel at the scarecrow display to win prizes. Prizes for guessing how many are on show.

Judge, Maggie Hurlow announced winners as: Adult Novelty - first place to Gill and Glen Hutchinson’s The Strim Reaper and second to Bill Hodgkinson’s The Squarecrow Family Day Out and third to Robin and Sue Ashby.

Traditional- first place to Peter Jones’ Scaredy Crow and second to Judith Walmesley’s Traditional Hippy of the ‘60s and third to Pat Hough.

Children - first to Emily and Emse White’s Mermaid, second to Finlay Brown’s Gruffalo and third to Helena and Dougie Smith’s Allotment Boy.
