SHOPPERS are being urged to buy one extra gift to help make a pensioner’s Christmas.

Age Concern Dacorum depends on donations of presents to make sure their festive bash goes with a bang.

Each year the charity hosts a Christmas do for old folks where gifts are given out to guests by Father Christmas.

Melanie Clarke from the organisation said: “For some people it might be the only Christmas present and the only Christmas meal they get.

“A lot of our clients don’t go out very much.”

Last year the Christmas celebration was held at Shendish Manor in Apsley, where there were more than 300 guests ranging from 60 to 101 years old.

The charity is asking for unwrapped gifts to be dropped off at its Hemel Hempstead office in Half Moon Yard or the Volunteer Centre in Marlowes.

Donations of raffle prizes and wine for the occasion would also be welcomed. Call 01442 259049.
