The incident happened earlier today (Wednesday).

The patient slipped on a slope and sustained a broken leg.

It is believed that he was on an orienteering trip as part of his Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Due to the remote and awkward location of the incident, the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) was called out to rescue the patient.

On arrival, the crew immobilised the patient before providing him with advanced pain relief.

He was then flown to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

The crew landed at the hospital shortly before 1pm.
