It follows that any business that is associated with the concept should have a solid reputation and be seen to be putting something back into the local area it serves.

The Brakes Trust is able to announce today that Alsters Kelley solicitors has agreed to sponsor Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year for the next three years, starting in April 2014. The amount involved is significant and secures the future funding of the campaign.

Both the Trust and the law firm have been looking for a partnership with a like minded organisation: one that cares about people facing personal problems in hard economic times; one that values the contribution made by volunteers, and wants to put something back into the community.

Erica Kemp, Head of Family Law said: “Alsters Kelley has been looking for an opportunity to get involved with a community based activity where we can be seen to be making a difference in the long term. The Brakes Trust and Citizen of the Year makes for an ideal fit. We are glad to be on board.”

Peter Bowen, of the Brakes Trust Board, said the deal meant that expenses incurred in running the project had been covered for the foreseeable future. “It makes sense for Alsters Kelley to associate itself with Citizen of the Year because it is doing something practical by paying for the campaign to recognise our unsung heroes.

“It shows it cares and takes an interest in people. I am confident that going forward the firm will want to broaden and develop the Coty concept. The Trust Board is excited by the partnership that has been forged and is looking forward to working with Alsters Kelley. It is good news for the trust and the many volunteers keeping the community together.”

Choosing a partner for this campaign was difficult and it is helpful that the firm selected is one of several in the area and is well established and has a strong presence in the local community.
