An extra 1,000 spaces on Two Castles Run

THE Two Castles Run has proved so popular that the number of competitors for next year’s event has jumped by 1,000 to 4,000.

Organised by Kenilworth Rotary Club, the run in June between Warwick and Kenilworth castles saw 750 people unable to take part because all 3,000 spaces were taken up by the end of February.

The numbers were increased following the agreement of police and management teams at the castles.

Nearly £100,000 was raised this year for good causes by the runners and next year’s event will be staged on June 12, with entries open on January 1.

Increased statutory regulations and the higher numbers taking part will see the Rotarians using traffic management consultants to handle all road closures and signs for the first time.

Leamington law firm Blythe Liggins will continue to be the main sponsor and Leamington Cycling and Athletic Club will again provide assistance with the sporting and running regulation aspects of the event.

The Rotarians need voluntary help with marketing, radio and public address and management. More sponsorship is also needed. Phone Phillip Southwell on 495256.
