Another robbery along Leamington canal

A MAN was threatened with a knife and punched in the head in the latest in a spate of robberies along the canal in Leamington.

The victim was cycling along the towpath along the Grand Union canal towpath near the Ford Foundry site on Wednesday just after 8am, when two men stopped him and asked for a light for their cigarette.

As the man looked for his lighter, one of the strangers produced a knife and demanded his wallet and mobile phone.

The cyclist handed over his wallet, but did not have a mobile phone with him. One of the men then punched him to the head causing him to fall off his bike.

The two unknown males then picked up the bicycle and went off in the direction of Leamington with the bicycle and the man’s wallet.

They are described as being aged between 18 and 19 and one of them was approximately 6ft tall, of thin build and wearing a blue hoodie with a white baseball bat cap underneath, white trainers and denim jeans, while the other was wearing a bomber style jacket with a hood, blue jeans and trainers.

The bicycle that they stole is described as being silver and black, it only has a rear brake and makes a loud clicking nose when pedalled.
