Appeal to trace man following attack in Warwick

Police are renewing their appeal to trace a man in connection with a violent assault outside a Warwick pub.

At around 5.45pm on bank holiday Monday May 6, a 49-year old man, who was with partner and elderly father. left the race meeting at Warwick Racecourse and waited for a pre-booked taxi near to the Forresters Arms pub in Crompton Street.

When the taxi arrived, two men, unknown to the man, got into the taxi. Following an exchange of words, one of the men grabbed the victim around the head and kicked and punched him.

He had to receive hospital treatment for facial injuries and is still receiving treatment now.

One of the attackers is described as white, 6ft tall and of muscular, stocky build. At the time he was wearing a pink top.

Police would like to speak to the man identified in the artist’s impression shown.
