Arrest made after burglary in Sydenham

POLICE arrested a 37-year-old on suspicion of burglary after jewellery and £400 was stolen from a house in Sydenham yesterday (Tuesday).

The incident took place in Newgale Walk some time between 6.15pm and 7.45pm.

The home owners returned to find a downstairs window had been forced open and a quantity of jewellery and the cash had been stolen.

The man, who was arrested near the scene, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
