Awards are all about town

Dubbed ‘For the town, by the town, about the town’, the Leamington Business Awards is a not-for-profit event that aims to showcase and reward success in the town

Around 60 businesses have already registered to be in the awards and more than 1,600 votes have already been cast online, ahead of the awards evening at the Royal Pump Room in Leamington on 
October 17.

The awards have been organised by a team of locally-based volunteers and has the backing of Leamington and Warwick MP Chris White.

Karen Massey, one of the organisers and owner of a local photography business, said: “All the committee members involved in making the Leamington Business Awards happen are offering their time and expertise voluntarily.

“We all live or work in and around Leamington. We love the town and wanted the chance to give something back to the business community.

“We thought it would also offer the chance to meet new people, work with new people and increase our knowledge of local businesses.

“There are hundreds of successful companies in Leamington, and we felt that the town deserved its own awards.

“We’re hoping that the event will help to promote local businesses within Leamington, and also to raise the profile of the town and its successes on a wider scale.

Organisers are still looking for more businesses to be nominated into the ten award categories available. They are:

Leamington Sparkle Award

Independent Business Award

National Business Award

Health & Beauty Business Award

Large Business Award (more than 20 employees).

Small Business Award (less than 20 employees)

Rising Star Award – Young Business Person (25 years & under)

Business Person of the Year Award

Leamington Legend Award

Businesses can nominate themselves or be nominated by customers and members of the public. Voting ends at midnight August 24, when the committee will draw up a finalists’ shortlist based on votes and scores ahead of the judging.

There are also opportunities for local businesses to get involved by sponsoring award categories.

The awards evening at the Pump Room will feature food, drinks and entertainment and will raise money for the chosen charity, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
