Activity is buzzing at the Woodside Hotel after 150,000 honeybees checked in to new hives to tackle a drop in numbers.

The bees are in three hives managed by bio-diversity champions Plan Bee.

As well as beekeeping courses for staff, members of the public can get involved in caring for the colonies, and honey will be on sale at the venue.

Manager, Jerry Toth, said: “Supporting the declining bee population is our way of putting something into the environment and making use of our extensive grounds.”
