Blisters worth it for Westminster walker

WALKING from Warwick Gates to Westminster has helped a Warwick schoolboy raise more than £1,000 for charity.

Myton School student Aiden Pestell set off on the 95-mile hike from his home to the House of Commons on Saturday. Walking via Banbury, Marlow, Slough and Heathrow, he was welcomed by Chris White MP on Tuesday evening.

The Warwick and Leamington MP, who met Aiden under Big Ben, said: “What Aiden has done is tremendous. I have been in Westminster for six months, and I can honestly say this is the most impressive thing I have seen.”

Aiden, 16, has raised £1,139 so far. He said: “This was a tough challenge and I feel a great sense of achievement but most important of all is that the money will be going to a worthwhile charity - the aching legs and blisters are worth it.”

Asked what he planned to do with the rest of his evening, Aiden added: “Rest and go for a Chinese.”
