Body found in River Avon in Warwick

Police divers have today (Wednesday) recovered a body from the River Avon in Warwick.

Warwickshire Police, with the assistance of Thames Valley Police specialist search and rescue team retrieved the body at 11am from the river near Kingfisher Pools and Myton Road.

At this time the body has not been identified and an investigation is underway to find out how the person came to be in the river.

A police spokeswoman said that although police believe they know the person’s identity, it will not be released until next of kin have been informed and a formal identification has taken place.

She added that officers are keeping an open mind regarding how the person came to be in the water.

Anyone with information or who may have seen anything out of the ordinary near the river at Kingfisher Pools in the last couple of days should contact Warwickshire Police on 415000.
