The silver motif in the centre of the giant shield was slightly damaged during the jubilant celebrations after Leamington FC won the league last season.

And the club’s name must also be added among the list of winners which includes Tottenham Hostpur, Southampton, Fulham and QPR.

Tustains jewellers, in Regent Street, sponsors the club and have been asked to carry out the necessary work after the shield has been showcased at Brakes’ first home game against Bradford Park Avenue in the Conference North on Saturday August 17.

Tom Milner, co-owner of Tustains, said: “It’s the first trophy Brakes have won since we have been sponsoring the club and it’s fantastic to be associated with them.

“The club has been a real success story and they’ve all worked very hard up there to make the big step forward so it’s good to help them.

“The satisfaction for us comes from the fact that like them we really like to think we are part of the community.”

The shield was first won by Millwall Athletic in 1895 - the same year Tustains opened in Leamington.

Brakes have achieved their commercial revenue target for sponsorship renewals for this season but advertising boards around the perimeter of the New Windmill Ground’s pitch are still available.
