Breaking News: Elderly woman dies after car crash in Leamington

AN ELDERLY woman who was seriously injured as the result of a car crash in Leamington town centre yesterday (Thursday) has died.

The woman, a pedestrian, suffered serious head injuries when a silver VW Tiguan was in collision with a grey Vauxhall Astra at the junction of Regent Street and Portland Street at about 11.30am.

She was taken by air ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire but died result of her wounds last night.

An elderly man was treated at the scene for a minor hand wound while the female driver of one of the cars was treated for shock.

Both were taken by ambulance to Warwick Hospital.

The identity of the deceased is likely to be confirmed on Monday.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was a witness to the collision.
