Repair work to the bridge along the A452 Leamington Road will begin on Monday June 1, from when traffic will be confined to a single lane.

The Grade II listed structure was completely knocked down in places after a lorry and a car collided on the bridge in March. But officials have assured that work will not be carried out during peak travel times in hope of easing delays and problems on the busy road.

A Warwickshire County Council spokesperson said: “Work will commence on 1 June and is expected to last six weeks although the council will make every effort to complete sooner.

“Single lane closure is required to carry out the work but to minimise inconvenience to motorists during peak travel times.

“Work will be restricted to 9.30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday. During these hours temporary traffic lights will be in operation.

“Delays are anticipated for the duration of the works which is essential to ensure the safety of bridge users.”
