Armed vandals shot out windows of at least three cars in Kenilworth’s Common Lane and 11 more across areas of Leamington and Cubbington between 8pm and midnight on Saturday.

It is thought the numbers could be much higher as some vehicle owners may not have reported the vandalism.

The trend follows a spate of shootings in Coventry where over 100 cars were victim to air gun attacks in a two-hour wrecking spree into Sunday morning.

Warwickshire Police officers say they believe the vandalism “spilt over the border” in what was now a high priority for the force.

Sargeant Dave Kettle from Kenilworth safer neighbourhood team stressed that the vandalism was not related to the weekend’s horse fair in the town, and urged any witnesses to come forward.

“Vehicles have been damaged and this is far wider reaching as it covers Kenilworth and Cubbington,” he said.

“We are keen to make sure the offences are not linked with the horse fair in Kenilworth. This is a wider problem which we believe is linked to the offences in Coventry.

“It is the second or third time Coventry has seen a string of offences like this and this time it seems they have gone further afield.

“We are working with West Midlands Police on this and urging anyone with information to come forward.”

West Midlands Police are hunting for a blue Citroen and a scrambler bike that they believe are involved in the Coventry incidents.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
