Hotel owner Ian Ferguson said “Ensuring that we have reduced loneliness for these guests, even for one day, will be an amazing feeling for our team.”

Linda O’Sullivan, fundraising manager for Age UK Warwickshire, said: “The reality for many older people is that they will be sharing the day with no one. This campaign is not just about raising awareness of this concerning public health issue, but we are also determined to raise funds that will allow us to create positive social opportunities in the area throughout the year. We really do appreciate all donations, as they will make a difference to people lives.”
