Children experience air raids, rations and evacuations

THE clocks were turned back to the time of the Blitz, rationing and blackouts at Coten End Primary School recently.

Children had the days of the Second World War brought to life in a week focusing on the period.

Year four teacher Tracy Pullee said: “Children first experienced an air raid, and were consequently evacuated to the ‘country’ for safety.

“During the launch week, children were totally immersed in the spirit of the era.

“They wrote letters home, designed and made sock puppets, planned vegetable patches, cooked using rationed food and also scripted and produced a Pathe style film.”
