Children moved to give up toys for unwell peers

A WHITNASH four-year-old who was moved by the thought of unwell children in hospital having no toys to play with helped to organise a large collection of items to donate to them.

On Christmas Day, Izzy Savage, who attends Whitnash Nursery School, and her mum Kate were talking about people who are less fortunate than themselves, just before they saw Nadine Ferguson, daughter-in-law to football manager Sir Alex Ferguson, and her son Charlie, speaking on TV about the Lovern Foundation - a charity they set up to provide children in hospital with toys, books and puzzles to help them through their stay.

Mrs Savage said: “Izzy wanted to donate her own toys, so we decided to ask the nursery school if we could ask the other children to do the same.”

The school collected five boxes of items, which they handed over to Ms Ferguson when she came to see them last Friday.
