Classical concert in aid of two good causes

THE Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Trudy Offer, is holding a charity concert next Sunday (March 25) in aid of her two chosen good causes.

By the end of her year of office she hopes to donate a substantial sum to the trust set up by Olympic torch-bearer Graham Fulford - who survived prostate cancer but set up a trust so that others could benefit from earlier, rather than late diagnoses via a simple blood test.

Cllr Offer is also raising money for Safeline, which trains volunteers to offer counselling to those who have suffered from sexual abuse.

The concert, in St Nicholas church, Warwick, features the Oriflamme Ensemble who will perform Tchaikovsky’s Symphony number 5 and Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto number 2.

The ensemble will be conducted by Antoine Mitchell and Julian Hellaby will be the soloist for the piano concerto.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £10 each and are available from Nicola Everall at The Court House, Jury Street, Warwick, or by ringing 411694 or 476727.
