Come to Eathorpe for cakes and ale

CHRISTMAS may be over, but the cakes and ale will still be plentiful in Eathorpe this weekend.

The village will mark the Twelfth Night of Christmas with its annual charity beer festival on Friday and Saturday, at which people will be able to choose from 14 beers, two ciders, a perry and a selection of organic wines.

The event at the village hall, which is marking the switch-off of Eathorpe’s extensive Christmas lights display, will also include food, soft drinks and live entertainment by the Coventry Mummers, the Mid’Life Crisis Band and others.

This year, organisers from the village hall made a research trip to the Black Country to sample beers from breweries the Olde Swan (Ma Pardoe’s) and Sarah Hughes, while they also visited newer breweies, Kinver and Hobsons, as well as cider makers in Ludlow (Mahorral’s) and Alcester (Hogans).

Entry to the festival, which is on from 6pm to 11pm on the Friday and 1pm to 11pm on the Saturday, is free., with proceeds going to the Myton Hospices, the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and Eathorpe village hall. To find out more, call 632575 or 632242.
