Musicians and performers will compete in Leamington tonight (Friday) to win a headline slot at this year’s Warwickshire Pride festival taking place on July 4.

Contestants in the Warwickshire Pride’s Got Talent event - taking place at the Family Tree Members Club in Kenilworth Street - will perform in front of an audience and a panel of judges, including Warwickshire Pride founder Daniel Browne, Leamington drag queen Sassi Afrika and Caroline Guinane from band Lost in the Wreckage.

After receiving feedback from the judging panel, contestant’s fate will then lie in the hands of the audience who will vote for the winner.

Mr Browne said: “It’s wonderful to be bringing the Warwickshire Pride’s Got Talent contest to Leamington again.

“Last year’s competition was a very entertaining night that was well supported by local people and our MP Chris White, who was on the judging panel.

“This year the contest is bigger and better and of course raising funds for the Warwickshire Pride festival, which is a charity event and remains free for people to attend, as well as being an entertaining night out for all people to enjoy.”

Along with the headline performance slot for the winner, the first prize will also include an interview with and a yearly subscription to The Gay UK, which is the country’s most read lesbian gay bisexual and transgender online magazine

Two runners up will win afternoon performance slots at the festival and a year’s subscription to the magazine.

Other features of the night will include Sassi performing her new single and last year’s winner Cristian Honeychurch returning to the stage.
