Could you help clear stable for homeless man?

Two good Samaritans are appealing for volunteers to help them clear out an old stable to provide shelter for a man sleeping in an alleyway close to a Warwick pub.

Even if gentleman-of-the-road Bob could afford one, there are no rooms available at the Foresters Arms in Crompton Street close to the town’s racecourse.

But inn-keeper Matt Willoughby has told Stacy Green and Jayne Blackburn that they can use his old stable to temporarily accommodate 66-year-old Bob - who the two women have been providing with hot food after finding him sleeping in an alleyway at the end of their road.

Bob, who comes from the Black Country, told them he’d come to Warwick because it was safer and quieter than living rough on the streets of Birmingham and Wolverhampton.

Stacy, aged 41, who lives in Longfellow Avenue, Warwick, said: “We have been telling people about Bob on Twitter and Facebook which is how Matt first heard about him.

“He’s kindly offered this old stable near the put but inside it’s four foot high in rubbish, including bricks and rubble and even an old fridge freezer.

“We need a skip or a lorry with some strong people to shift all this stuff. Once we’ve done that we can put a mattress in there and at least give this poor man some shelter in the weeks up to Christmas.”
