Council meets with Coventry City FC to discuss potential stadium in Rugby

Planners in Rugby have been in talks with Coventry City Football Club about building a stadium in the borough.

The team currently plays at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry but it had a long-running dispute with the previous stadium owners.

A spokesman for Rugby Borough Council said: “The leader of the council and the council’s executive director and head of planning and recreation met with representatives of Coventry City Football Club on March 11 2015.

“The club requested the meeting to understand how the council would deal with any planning application for potential stadium sites in the borough of Rugby.”
