Cricketers given sporting chance

HOWZAT? Pupils at Campion School have celebrated the launch of new cricket facilities which were paid for using a generous grant.

The youngsters have been provided with a new kit and the wicket on the school’s pitch has been resurfaced thanks to a £3,000 grant awarded by the Lord’s Taverners Charity.

Cricket has become one the school’s most popular and successful sports with its under-15 remaining unbeaten and its under-13s triumphant in most games over the last season.

The charity, which aims to give young people a “sporting chance”, awarded the grant in conjunction with the England and Wales Cricket Board when it heard of the pupils’ growing passion for cricket.

Regional chairman Trevor Foster visited Campion last week.
