Warwickshire Police's OPU Unit has had a busy couple of weeks on our county roads. Many drivers have been stopped for not having insurance or even the correct driving licence. Others were stopped for speeding or drug offences. Either way, many of the vehicles were take off the roads.
Here is a round-up of the drivers officers have stopped in Warwickshire since the start of 2023.
9. Warwick
The Audi A3 was stopped on Banbury Road, Warwick. The insurance policy had been cancelled in November due to non payment. The driver was reported for the offence as he produced emails confirming he was fully aware of the cancellation. Photo: OPU Warwickshire
10. Nuneaton
Police stopped the Fiat 500 near to McDonald's Bermuda, Nuneaton. The driver had a provisional licence and no insurance. We reported the driver for the offences. Photo: OPU Warwickshire
11. Nuneaton
The Audi was stopped on Alexandra Street, Nuneaton. The driver had no licence and no insurance. Vehicle seized and driver reported. Photo: OPU Warwickshire
12. Nuneaton
Police stopped this vehicle on A444 at Bermuda, Nuneaton, as they were suspicious about the documentation of the vehicle. Checks identified that the driver was disqualified with no insurance. Following a conversation with UK Border Force two of the passengers were also arrested for immigration offences. Vehicle seized and driver reported. Photo: OPU Warwickshire
