Kineton car fire being investigated as arson

Warwickshire Police are investigating a car fire in Kineton early this morning as arson.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said the investigation is ongoing into the circumstances around a fire at a vehicle parked in a layby on Southam Road in Kineton.

Police are looking for any information including witnesses to the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 55 of May 28.

A spokesperson for the Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters were called to the car fire twice within a three-hour period.

Firefighters with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to multiple reports of a car fire in Kineton early this morning (Thursday May 28.)

Loud bang noises could be heard coming from the vehicle throughout the neighbourhood as flames engulfed the car.

The car, a gray sport utility vehicle, had been parked near the roundabout on Southam Road at the junction of Glosters Green and St Peters roads.

Firefighters were initially alerted to the fire, which involved a single private motor vehicle on a layby near St Peter's Road with no persons involved, at 1.27 this morning.

Police were called to the first fire around 1.55am.

Crews extinguished the fire.

The fire service were then alerted to a second fire at the same location at 4:15am and crews returned to find the same vehicle well alight. Police were also again called to the second fire around 4.30am.

The fire was was extinguished by 5:41am.

A Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Due to the doubtful nature of the fire, police were informed and attended both incidents."
