Man arrested after car strikes elderly woman in Leamington

A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into an incident in which a woman suffered serious injuries after a car collided with her.

Officers were called at 12.31pm on Friday, August 14, to a report of the road traffic collision in Newbold Street, Leamington.

The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene of the accident.

The woman in her seventies was taken to hospital with serious injuries to her leg and torso.

She remains in hospital.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old man from Stratford on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He was released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Officers are appealing anyone with further information to contact Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 155 of 14 August 2020.
