A man was seriously assaulted in an unprovoked, broad daylight attack in a Rugby street.

The incident happened back on December 7 but officers have only today (Monday) appealed for witnesses.

The attack took place outside a block on flats on Coton Road at around 3.30pm.

A police spokesperson said: "A man is his 40s has recently got off the bus and was walking along the street when he was approached by two men who assaulted him.

"The victim suffered facial and leg injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

"Enquiries are currently ongoing and we’re keen to speak to anyone who has information or may have been in the area at the time of the incident.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 96 of 8 Dec."
