More than 50 people are facing fines for breaching covid rules after police were called to reports of parties in Leamington.

Warwickshire Police has said that 55 people are facing £200 fines.

This was after officers responded to reports of four house parties in Leamington at the weekend.

The parties were in Rugby Road, Kenilworth Road, Warwick Street and Athorpe Street.

Superintendent Mike Smith, community policing lead, said: “While most people are following the rules, there are still a lot of young people who think the rules do not apply to them and their reckless actions are putting other people at risk.

“As we have shown, where there are clear and deliberate breaches of Coronavirus legislation we will not hesitate to take action.”
