Police investigate attack on train manager

Officers are investigating an attack on a train manager which took place on Saturday, 22 November, as the train travelled from Leamington to Banbury.

Investigating officer, PC Liam Deasley, said: “A member of rail staff was checking tickets on board the 16.55hrs Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone service when he became involved in an altercation with a male passenger in the centre carriage of the train.

“The passenger is then alleged to have followed the member of staff into the rear carriage of the train where he assaulted him.

“The train was busy and a number of passengers came to the aid of the member of staff following the incident.

“I am today appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, and the passengers who helped the member of staff to his feet, to come forward as I believe they will be able to assist our investigation.”

A 29-year-old man from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further enquiries until Saturday, December 27.
