Rugby St Cross nurse's bike stolen and then sold on Facebook - do you recognise it?

A St Cross nurse from Hillmorton who had her bicycle stolen from the hospital grounds while she worked a 12-hour nightshift is hoping residents can come forward with information.

Nurse Margaret Clements came off a gruelling night shift on the morning of Friday, February 25, only to discover that her bicycle had been stolen.

The bike had been secured with a heavy duty lock inside the hospital bike shed - which is further secured by a keypad on the door.

Husband Malcolm said: "Whoever did this must have come equipped with bolt cutters and they must have known the code for the keypad.

"She works three 12-hour nightshifts a week and she cycles to avoid having to pay the expensive hospital car park charges.

"How can someone target a bike that is clearly used by an NHS worker?

"She's deeply upset and angry."

The next day the couple saw the bike come up for sale on a Rugby Facebook page for £120.

It appears the bike was then sold and the advert was removed.

Malcolm and Margaret have asked the Advertiser to share pictures of the bike, in the hope that whoever has unwittingly bought it will get in touch with the police.

The bike is a blue Merida ladies' model with a step-through frame and black mudguards.
