Speeding is top priority at road safety roadshow

SPEEDING and seat belts will be the focus of a road safety roadshow in Leamington town centre on Thursday.

Staff from Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire County Council will be visiting the Royal Priors shopping centre from 10.30am to 2pm.

Free wheelie bin stickers encouraging motorists to slow down will be available on the day and road safety liaison officer Chris Fossey said people would be able to pass on concerns about speeding in their neighbourhood.

He is hoping to meet people who would normally find it difficult to attend council meetings or community forums.

Mr Fossey said: “Speeding is the number one concern across the county - we receive around 1,000 complaints a year.

“This is an opportunity for people to drop in and talk about problems in their community. We can give them advice on the kind of measures we take. The police will be there and they have the local knowledge to enforce speed limits.”
