Supermarket gives Neighbourhood Watch new home

A LEAMINGTON supermarket has given its neighbourhood watch group a home.

Sainsbury’s in Leamington Shopping Park agreed to allow South Leamington Neighbourhood Watch to continue using the former community police post as a base.

Volunteers have been in the store since February 2011 operating a drop-in surgery and giving out crime prevention advice every Tuesday and Thursday. They work in partnership with other organisations including Warwickshire Police, trading standards, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network chairman Jim Maddan said: “This is a great opportunity for South Leamington Neighbourhood Watch and Sainsbury’s to work together to create a strong, friendly, active community where everyone has the right to feel safe. Thank you Sainsbury’s for supporting this local initiative.”
