The incident was sparked when officers spotted a red van being driven “erratically” in Lutterworth town centre last Wednesday (November 4).
The van driver was chased by police after failing to stop.
The vehicle suddenly stopped near Ullesthorpe and the occupants jumped out and made off.
The van was seized by police.
Officers were carrying out enquiries at the spot when a black Audi saloon car drove past them before stopping.
The people in the car again got out and ran away.

In a final twist in the drama, a silver Citroen people carrier was also discovered parked at the same location near Ullesthorpe.
Police checked it out – and quickly found it was carrying false number plates.
“That was also therefore seized,” said police.
