An unlicensed driver was caught in possession of drugs in Leamington - after cutting up a marked police car.

Officers also discovered that the driver was not insured to use the vehicle.

The incident happened last night (Thursday) when the vehicle indicated one way at a junction but turned the other way, cutting up a marked police vehicle in the process.

Police stopped the car to speak to the driver and found another problem

In a tweet, the police said: "Upon stopping and speaking to the driver our noses twinged at the recognisable aroma of the 'devil's lettuce'.

"The driver and vehicle were subject to a search and we located a small amount of cannabis.

"The poor driving was explained by the absence of a driving licence. The driver was also not insured to use the vehicle.

"The driver has been reported for all of the offences and was issued a £90 fine for drug possession. The drugs have been seized for destruction."
