Cubbington pear tree threatened by HS2 has been shortlisted in national competition

A Cubbington pear tree threatened by the proposed HS2 rail line and thought to be the second largest in the UK has been shortlisted by the Woodland Trust in its Tree of the Year contest.

Believed to be over 250 years old, the tree is a Warwickshire icon which has stood for generations at the top of a hill near South Cubbington Wood.
