Cubbington’s successful step back in time

CUBBINGTON’S first Victorian Afternoon proved such a success that organisers plan to repeat it.

The car parks by the shops in Queen Street were cleared of vehicles and assorted stalls and gazebos were erected alongside the Christmas tree, which was dressed by village traders.

Good causes, including the Warks and Northants Air Ambulance and Cubbington pensioners’ association, set up stands to boost their funds or raise their profile.

The weather held and people enjoyed mulled wine, soup, hot chestnuts and mince pies, while music and carols were provided by the Cubbington Silver Band. And visitors and traders dressed up in Victorian costume to add to the festive spirit.

It was organised by Cubbington parish council with the help of traders and businesses in the area.

Vice-chairman David Morris said: “It worked so well we are going to do it again.”
