David’s art helped new arches project

A LEAMINGTON artist used his talent to help raise thousands of pounds towards the newly restored Linden Arches in the Pump Room Gardens.

David Lewis, known for his paintings of Leamington’s architecture, created a watercolour featuring some of the arches in their faded glory as they stood on the Linden Walk before the project came to fruition.

The original was donated to the Friends of the Pump Room Gardens and with the help of Gerry Smith, chairman of Leamington Studio Artists, the piece was sold at Gallery 150 for £750 while 100 signed prints were also sold for £35 each.

This raised more than £4,000 for the project.

A plaque with the artist’s name and those of other contributors will be installed near the arches.
